Performance evaluation of sheet-pipe for underground drainage pipe system
Sheet-pipe is a drainage pipe in the form of a sheet hence easily to be carried or moved during transportation. Installation is conducted by forming a pipe and placing it at a certain depth without digging so that it is easy to install in fields that have problems with excessive waterlogging.
As the drainage pipe, the sheet pipe should have functions to remove excess water in paddy fields.
The performance evaluation of KYOWA Type SP-50T sheet-pipe was carried out in Balai Besar Penelitian Tanaman Padi. Desa Sukamandi Jaya, Kecamatan Ciasem, Kabupaten Subang, Jawa Barat. The performance evaluation of drainage system was conducted using standard method correspond to the conditions of the same soil type from the paddy fields. Sheet-pipe was recommended be operated in mechanization activities in rice cultivation up to normal pressure of 200 kPa (equivalent to a load of 20 tons of agricultural machinery with normal wheel treads).
