Mandates
- Development of infrastructures in rural areas for housing and production activities by employing sciences and technologies in order to increase productivity, added values, to create job opportunities, as well as to create access to the market for the resulted products so that urban activities can be prevented from happening.
- Development of innovative technologies suitable for socio-economy culture of rural people, mainly by introduction of agricultural tools and machinery as well as bio-system engineering.
- Development of optimum agricultural production systems for on-farm and off-farm activities through the application of engineering disciplines.
- Development and usage of information technology by providing information system for management of agricultural mechanization activities.
HISTORY
In 1986, Graduate Program of Faculty of
Agricultural Engineering and Technology, IPB received a grant aid from Japanese
Government through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with the
objective to develop and strengthen graduate program in the field of
Agricultural Engineering Science. The project was followed by a new project
scheme, a Technical Cooperation between Directorate General of Higher
Eduaction (DGHE) and JICA on the Academic Development of Graduate Program
at the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (ADAET) Project‑JTA‑9(a)‑132
for five years (1988-1993), with the purpose of strengthening the Graduate
Program in the field of agricultural engineering. The activities in the project
implementation were research, seminar, in-country training, overseas training,
Japanese expert assignment, infrastructure model develoment, etc.
To maintain the activities which have been
initiated and implemented during the ADAET Project, IPB established
CREATA as one of research centers under the Research and Community
Empowerment Institute through the Rector Decree No. 101/Um/1994, which was
later accomplished by the Rector Decree No.053/Um/1995.
In 1996 CREATA received a grant for developing and
running a center unit (Center Grant) from URGE (University Research for
Graduate Education) Project in DGHE, Ministry of Education, for three years.
With this center grant, CREATA was able to maintain the continuation of
activities started through the ADAET Project, particularly in the staffs competences
improvement mainly in teaching and research activities conducted at post
graduate level in the Agricultural Engineering Sciences Study Program.
Through the improvement of research facilities and
upgrading of staff’s competences, CREATA has the ability to become a reliable
engineering-based research center and conducts various high quality
research activities in which many post-graduate students are involved as they
need to conduct their own research projects for study completion.
